8 Ways to Celebrate Employee Milestones and Accomplishments

Keeping your business a thriving operation all starts with investing in your employees. It’s very common for businesses to simply write out paychecks and forget that their most valuable assets are those that work for them. Fortunately, you can help keep your employees feeling appreciated and wanting to strive for more by actively celebrating their milestones and accomplishments.

1- Throw a Party

One of the most traditional and effective ways to celebrate the accomplishments and milestones of your employees is to throw them a party. If an employee is coming up on a year, celebrate with cake. If your staff member just signed their 100th client, have a dinner party to show your appreciation for their effort.

2- Offer Company Merchandise

One killer way to help promote your business and celebrate your employees at the same time is to give out company merchandise. When an employee hits a certain milestone, give them a company jacket with their name on it. If they reach another accomplishment, give them a company laptop bag. Have a reward system of company merchandise for each milestone, as it gives your employees that extra push to always do better.

3- Provide a Paid Day Off

As your employees buckle down to reach their next milestone, they can end up burning themselves out. You can help avoid employee downtime by simply offering a paid day off. This ensures that your employees take the necessary time to recuperate and come back rearing to hit their next accomplishment.

4- Give Challenge Coins

In most cases, your employees are just looking to feel valued and accomplished. By providing them with a challenge coin, embossed with your company logo or another memorable image, you help to give them a tangible object they can be proud of. In fact, you’ll likely find your employees showcasing their challenge coins on their desks as a prized possession.

5- Present a Dinner Gift Card

Many times, your employees’ accomplishments are going to be fueled by their families. You can give everyone a chance to celebrate by simply providing them with a gift card for dinner at their favorite restaurant. This way, their family can celebrate and share in the wealth of their success.

6- Do a Social Media Shoutout

Just the gift of actually recognizing them for their hard work is all your employee needs to feel good about meeting their milestones. A free way to help make them feel good is to give them a shoutout on your company’s social media pages. This recognition in front of other staff members and the praise that they’ll receive from them can help make every milestone special.

7- Write Employee Appreciation Notes

When your employees reach their big milestones, like working at your office for their 10th year, you want to do something unique to celebrate. A great option is to ask each one of their co-workers to write a short appreciation note. Have them describe what the employee does that they’re appreciative of.

8- Buy a Milestone Plaque

Another great tangible item you can give your employees who reach a major accomplishment or milestone is a plaque. Have it uniquely decorated with your company’s logo and the achievement they accomplished. You could even consider presenting them with a plaque at your next company party.
