Historically, Art Blocks’ non-fungible tokens (NFT) have ranked high on NFT marketplaces. The recent launch of its Friendship Bracelets collection is no different.
Art Blocks founder, Erick Calderon (Snowfro), conceptualized the 38,413-piece collection, while Alexis André, the Japanese Generative Art Foundation director, designed it.
Those who already own Art Blocks NFTs were able to claim up to two free tokens to mint an NFT within the Friendship Bracelet collection. The tokens, based upon the novelty of exchanging bracelets between children, have been open for claim since October.
Within a few days of the claim period’s closure, the collection’s popularity shot to the top of the leaderboard on NFT marketplace OpenSea.
By Tuesday afternoon, the collection had accumulated a total trading volume of 7,437 ETH (about $9.9 million) and had the highest 24-hour trading volume on the secondary marketplace.
There are several popular NFT collections on Art Blocks, such as Tyler Hobbs’ Fidenza and Emily Xie’s Memories of Qilin. With this recently launched mint, the company aims to thank its community for buying artwork from its roster of artists since 2020.
“The project is a token of our appreciation to the creators, makers, builders and collectors who have all contributed to making the Art Blocks community what it is today… Participating in this project is a signal, both online and IRL, that you’re a participant in this evolution of art and community,” noted Art Blocks on its collection page.
Token owners will also receive instructions to create their own wearable bracelet.
