Mike Winkelmann (Beeple)
Mike Winkelmann, also known as Beeple on the internet, is a graphic designer, digital artist, and animator from South Carolina. His piece entitled “Everydays: The First 5000 Days” sold for over $69 million at Christie’s Auction House in 2021.
Not only was it the first time in history that a respected auction house sold a piece of digital art, but it also accepted payment in cryptocurrency. Beeple’s creation is also credited with bringing NFTs into mainstream media.
PAK
Among the NFT art community, Pak is revered as a godfather. This is particularly impressive as he has been active for over two decades. The highest-grossing digital artist of all time remains anonymous.
His artwork entitled “Merge” is the most expensive NFT collection to date, sold for $91.8 million in December 2021. In addition to “Merge,” he created two NFT collections – “Censored” to support the imprisoned Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder.
XCOPY
Digital artist XCOPY, a pseudonymous artist from London, is making a name for himself in the NFT art scene. Death, dystopia, and indifference are the main themes showcased in his “glitched” digital artworks.
His “All Time High in the City” piece went for $1,987,556. It took only 10 minutes for XCOPY’s latest collection, ‘Max Pain,’ to earn $23 million. Grifters, Frens, and Right-click and Save As Guy are some of his notable works.
Tyler Hobbs
Tyler Hobbs typically uses algorithms, plotters, and paint in his work. He explores how computer hardware and software interact with the natural world through algorithmic aesthetics.
He sold a painting called ‘Dandelion Wist’ for nearly $17 million. He’s also famous for Fidenza, a series of 999 algorithmic-generated artworks.
